F-Stop Bandon // Tim Pierce

This stop-motion short shows ya’ll how I use one of my favourite camera bags – The F-stop Bandon. This hip little number is perfect for stuffing a DSLR and a couple of lenses into when you’re on the run and traveling light. Whether you’re strolling the big city streets shooting photos and video, or heading away for a quick over night trip, it fits the bill. In this film I show unloading my gear from my F-Stop Satori, jumping in the car and heading down to one of my favourite spots on the Clutha River. I really dig this bag, it’ll always have a home with me. Find out more here – fstopgear.com/en/millar/bandon

Tim Pierce x Director x Robbers Dog

Roofff rufff!

There have been some huge changes for my work recently, many of which I haven’t been able to share. But, I can now let this puppy out of the bag.

As of 2012 I am proud to be a Director for one of the top production companies in the Asia Pacific region. Robbers Dog has a huge variety of very polished work and some incredible clients, not to mention an envied roster of international directors that I’m delighted to be aligned with. My work is going through some big transitions at the moment & I’ll be able to share some fresh films in the near future. For now be sure to check out the doggies site and films on the links below – you even get to see me as an animated pup layered with chains and denim.

Red Bull Flow Hunters Teaser

Red Bull have just released the teaser for the flow hunters kayaking project and it looks great! I had the pleasure of shooting the aerial imagery for this with the Shot-Over. Looking forward to seeing the film! Here’s some behind the scenes shots from the shoot back in March.

Genie – Motion Control Timelapse Device

The Genie

Over the past few years the development of cheap DSLR cameras has caused a huge boom in timelapse video. Every second video being posted online seems to contain beautiful time lapse imagery, from city streets at night through to timelapses of the aurora shot from NASA Satellites. It’s far from a new technique, but it will never get old -  The lads at Syrp have developed a device to aid more creative and advanced timelapse options called the Genie.

The Genie mounted on a Philip Bloom slider for linear + panning movment

I’m stoked on this product because it’s been designed in Queenstown by two New Zealanders, Ben Ryan & Chris Thomson. They’ve thought things through properly and this seems to be one incredibly versatile device. The Genie has been launched on KickStarter and is off to a great start, jump in there and support the boys! I recommend watching the video on kickstarter to understand the device, the photos don’t do it justice. I don’t shoot a large amount of timelapse imagery but I think I’m gonna have to buy one of these to explore some different possibilities. Combining controlled linear and panning movements together opens a tonne of doors.
